Selling through a family or ownership change.

An inheritance, estate, divorce or disagreement among owners can leave several people involved in one property. A conversation can begin while the authority, records and next steps are still being clarified.

Include the people involved

Explain who is participating and whether a lawyer is already handling the matter. Andrew can discuss a possible purchase and the property work involved. Your lawyer advises on the authority, agreements and legal steps needed for a sale.

Separate the property work from the legal questions

Start with the address, condition and questions preventing a decision. Repairs, belongings and purchase timing can be discussed alongside the work your lawyer is handling. Keep the people whose participation is required involved as the proposal develops.

Questions about inherited and jointly owned property

Can I call before an estate matter is complete?

Yes, for an initial discussion. That does not establish that the property can yet be sold or that you have authority to sign.

What if several relatives or owners are involved?

Explain the ownership situation and who is participating. Required decisions and signatures must be established before an agreement can proceed.

Do I need to empty an inherited house first?

Not before the first conversation. Describe the belongings and property condition so potential responsibilities can be discussed.

Can Andrew settle a family or ownership dispute?

Lewis Equity Group considers purchasing the property. Your lawyer addresses legal rights, authority and disputes; a purchase proposal does not replace that work.

29 Overhill Rd: an inherited home

The inherited property lacked a Certificate of Occupancy or Certificate of Existing Use. Andrew purchased it, obtained a Certificate of Existing Use, renovated the house and sold it.
